The principles we work to

• Lawfulness, fairness and transparency. We tell you what we collect and why, in plain language.
• Purpose limitation. We use data for the purpose we collected it for, and not for something else you would not expect.
• Data minimisation. We ask for the least we need. This is why our forms are short.
• Accuracy. We correct data when we learn it is wrong.
• Storage limitation. We delete data when the retention period ends. The periods are published in our Privacy Policy.
• Integrity and confidentiality. We protect data with encryption in transit, access controls and least-privilege access.
• Accountability. We keep records of what we process and why, and we can produce them on request.

Your rights, and how to use them

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent where consent is the basis we rely on.

• We acknowledge requests within five working days.
• We respond in full within one month. If a request is complex, we may extend this by up to two further months, and we will tell you why within the first month.
• There is no charge, unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive — in which case we will explain our reasoning before charging anything.
• We may ask you to verify your identity. This protects you: it stops someone else obtaining or deleting your data.

Marketing and consent

We send marketing email only to people who asked for it. Every marketing email contains a working unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately — we do not require you to log in, explain yourself, or wait ten days.

Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and it does not affect the lawfulness of anything we did before you withdrew.

Data processors

Where a third party processes personal data on our behalf, we have a written agreement in place under Article 28 that requires them to act only on our instructions, to keep the data secure, to assist us with data subject requests, and to delete or return the data at the end of the arrangement. We review these providers periodically.

Breach notification

If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to result in a risk to people's rights and freedoms, we will report it to the Information Commissioner's Office within 72 hours of becoming aware of it. Where the risk is high, we will also inform the affected individuals directly and without undue delay, describing what happened, what data was involved, and what we are doing about it.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first — most issues can be resolved quickly.
