Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, what we have done, what is still imperfect, and how to tell us about a problem.
Last updated: 1 July 2026
Our commitment
We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, or reduced-motion settings.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We believe this site currently meets that standard in most respects, and we describe the known exceptions below rather than claiming perfection.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML with a single
h1per page and a logical heading order. - A skip link to the main content, available to keyboard users on first tab.
- Visible focus indicators on every interactive element.
- Text and background colour combinations tested against WCAG AA contrast ratios.
- Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images; decorative images marked so screen readers skip them.
- Form fields with associated labels, required fields marked in text as well as visually, and error messages announced to assistive technology.
- Full keyboard operability, including the navigation menu, search panel, accordions and the cookie banner.
- Respect for the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting: animations are disabled if your operating system requests it. - Text that reflows and remains readable at 200% zoom.
- A responsive layout that works at a range of screen sizes and orientations.
Known limitations
We would rather tell you what is imperfect than pretend it is not:
- The embedded map on our contact page is provided by Google and we do not control its accessibility. The full address is given in text on the same page, so no information is available only through the map.
- Illustrative dashboard graphics are decorative SVGs. They carry a text description of what they show, but the individual data points are not separately navigable. No information on the site exists only inside a chart.
- Downloadable templates are provided as spreadsheets and documents. Their accessibility depends partly on the software you open them in. If you need a resource in an alternative format, ask us and we will supply one.
How this was tested
We test with keyboard navigation, with screen reader software, with browser zoom to 200%, and with automated tooling. Automated tools catch a minority of accessibility problems, so manual testing does most of the work.
